Tiny dancer...

Just so you know...
Timothy the turkey and myself are tight... probably just because I don't care for turkey.
And meats in general.
Sometimes I take unflattering photographs of myself... and post them on the internet.

Todays outfit...

wearing...
magenta, teal and blue stripe mens button-up: used to be my dads
thick argyle tights: betsy johnson
silver 5 inchers: a gift from meg
black leather belt: stolen from another shirt
jewelry: vintage/ custom

Also, please note my companion ceramic bunny.
I call him Elroy.
I don't know where all these animals keep coming from, but I enjoy it lots.
(Seriously, its like they multiply and materialize from nowhere.)

Alright, you might not know it, but I love Elton John.
And this is my favorite song...

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad

Piano man he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows, the tune she hums

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly, slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
you had a busy day today

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly, slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
you had a busy day today

If you have never heard this song, please listen to it.
Its amazing, and I swear that I get chills every time I hear it.
It would be on the soundtrack to my life.
Which come to think of it, I will probably have to put together and post, as it will probably be silly and a really awkward combination of songs.

As for now, I'm off to try and tackle a bit of cleaning.

inspiration...

As promised, here are a few inspiration pictures...
These are taken from pages of my personal books.
I generally look to my books for ideas to spark my creativity in some way.
These pictures were actually taken so that I could email them to my best friend, so that she would have an idea of what I had been up to lately. She lives in Chicago, so we often send each-other mail containing little extras.

As much as I might like to credit the whatever magazines these photo clippings came from, it has been a while, and I'm afraid that I can't recall what came from where.
I do know that some came from ID, V, and Juxtapose .

Apologies for the fact that I am still trying to figure out quite how to set up and format everything with blogger, as I am not accustomed to using this particular site fully yet.
Hopefully it'll all be resolved soon.

And now I will leave you with a little list of things that are making my day...
♥ baking
♥ new shoes (not today, but soon)
♥ my blue fox fur and cashmere coat
♥ cats and their odd antics
♥ organizing
♥ working on a new tattoo prospect
♥ coffee and cigarettes
♥ sushi
♥ consuming large amounts of water
♥ new magazines
♥ sitting at the kitchen table keeping Boo company

Everybody wants charm, and a smile, and a promise...

Today has been an extremely chill day, I slept VERY late, took a shower, got myself together, had some dinner, had a mini photo shoot, and now I've just been dinking around on the internet pretty much since.

I plan to post some pictures of things that I find very inspiring that I have compiled and a few other silly things, so we shall see where the evening takes me.

Well, this is what I've been wearing today... I really haven't done much thus far. Just ate some tofu bag sushi and had a little picture excursion. I intend to post things from that shortly.
I just realized that I happen to have my hand next to my mouth in both of these pictures, which is pretty silly.

Wearing...
green/ grey bomber jacket: alpha industries inc.
black tank: express
teal extra long tank: charlotte russe
leggings: charlotte russe
grey sweater dress: target
plaid scarf: vintage
belt: borrowed from another outfit.
teal heels: charlotte russe
black suede buckle boots: rocketdog
jewelry: vintage and custom
(bonus points for matching nail polish!)

I have been finding that I was so excited for the cool weather to come so that I could wear layers, but honestly, the novelty has long since worn off. I don't really care for the cold, but then again I don't much care for the hot weather either. I suppose it is just a lose, lose situation given my lovely location (1/2 the year it is a 95 degree sauna, the other 1/2 I live on the damn arctic tundra.)
Ahh well... such is life.

This does bring me to my favorite clothing trends for the season...
Dark and neutral colors, especially mixing white+black, with one accent color or piece. (Perhaps I'm just biased though... as this tends to be my own general aesthetic these days.)
Structured and well tailored coats.
Drop crotch pants- though I don't think that I would wear them myself, they are great on the right person.
Latex! - again, probably not my thing, but still covetable.
Sheer fabric layering.

Picture examples to come!

I don't sleep, so I blog...

Recently it has occurred to me that because I fail to sleep much in the night, I need something to preoccupy my time. Therefore obviously, writing in a blog containing musings and details of my life seemed like an appropriate use of the ungodly night hours that I tend to keep.

Last night I actually ventured out and about... (actually "going out" on big adventures is a fairly rare occasion for me.) THE FAINT was playing in the heart of downtown  Minneapolis, naturally meaning that I felt it was pretty important to head down there and enjoy... despite the fact that there is always a chance of being mugged / and or / (at the very least) heckled.

This I should mention, was also a bit of a rescue mission for a friend, who was on what we all suspect was intended by the other party to be a date. But myself and three other friends ruined that.
I guess thats kind of what we are good for though... Making situations less awkward.
Or maybe more awkward.
That probably depends on who you ask.
Maybe.

Well in any case, the first two bands were quite awful really, but the faint played an amazing show- it was super fantastic, they played a long time, and whoever was running sound and lights for that gets an A+ from me.
I would also like to mention the man in the UV reactive full body suit. All throughout the show, he danced with enthusiasm and impressive moves, thrusted himself on many a nervous person, and made a lot of people genuinely uncomfortable.
Props to you, inappropriate dancing full body suit guy- I am sure that you probably are not paid enough for that, but you made my night just that much better.

This is what i wore to the show, but i also had a sweater on with it for some of the night. It gets very cold in Minnesota... in case you hadn't heard.
I am wearing...

white tank: express
black racer tank: DIY
blackwash skinny jeans: express
patent three buckle waistbelt: charlotte russe
patent ankle boots: guess
jewelry: custom/ vintage

Now I suppose it is time for me to be off...
